Over the years, as an entrepreneur, I have started a number of successful companies. But, the most exciting and rewarding time of my career came when I moved to Kamloops and started working with a non-profit. I was able to spend nearly 12 years helping high-tech entrepreneurs get their ideas and new companies up and running.
During that time I worked extensively with the federal, provincial and municipal governments, research councils, universities and large corporations to develop strategies and partnerships for research funding and direct investment.
At the time, I was the Executive Director of the Interior Science Innovation Council as well as chair and president of the British Columbia Science and Technology Network.
Prior to my involvement with the science council I was involved with the tourism industry and was owner/publisher of a Canadian travel magazine, owner of an advertising agency specializing in airline travel and was chair and president of the Cariboo Chilcotin Coast Tourism Association.
I have also started and owned a distribution and fulfillment company and most recently started and currently run a fine-art digital printing company as well as a combined photography and writing business.
