Leslie Lax is a consulting economist who has worked in the field of economic development for more than 20 years. He has extensive experience working side by side with municipal administration, mayors and councils.
Leslie has developed and implemented effective economic development strategies and has been instrumental in preparing communities for change and effective strategic planning. He understands what steps are required to achieve real and meaningful economic health in a community. Leslie has a well-rounded educational background with a bachelor’s degree in economics and political science and a master’s degree in economics.
Leslie Lax is an active and engaged community member who has demonstrated community leadership abilities. He is known as being a respectful and dedicated individual who has genuine concern for the social and economic well-being of the community. Leslie has served on the boards of a number of community and economic development organisations. He understands the balance between governance and administration.
Leslie and his wife Jean thoroughly enjoy making Kamloops their home. They have two grown sons. In his free time, Leslie enjoys playing soccer and squash in organized adult leagues and spending time hiking and canoeing in the area.
Leslie will bring a progressive, creative, problem-solving approach to working on council and he will focus on three key areas:
